Canvas The canvas is our cornerstone. We start with Signature’s pure 100% cotton duck surface that is woven in U.S. textile mills for superior yarn quality. This beautifully clean and consistent oxford weave is triple coated with our exclusive chemistry-perfect bright white gesso formula under ISO 9002 quality control standards. You will not find any cracking on the edges. The end result is a finished weight of 15.5 oz. archival painting surface with a versatile medium tooth texture. We assure you it is the best canvas you will find.
Frame Our cabinet-grade American poplar hardwood frame is selected for its strength and stability. Our frames are straight and square – every time. Larger size frames are fully braced with up to six separate crossbars. Our patented minimum contact frame is steeply-angled to minimize contact with the canvas in order to prevent the frame from interfering with your brush stroke. This design provides sturdy support for your canvas.
Fastening Signature Canvas offers you two choices of fastening techniques: channel-fastened spline or staple. Our channel-fastened spline technique assures a superior quality artist canvas with a tight, even stretch and permanent strong hold. Our staple fastening uses attractive brass coated staples to secure the canvas to the backside of the frame. Both fastening techniques feature a gallery wrap with clean, paintable edges – beautiful for presenting without a frame.
Superb craftsmanship Signature’s factory is not automated with fancy framing and stretching machines. We prefer the tried and true methods developed over the years; our stretching team hand-stretches your custom canvas with canvas pliers. Our craftsmen stretch your canvas to perfection with as much care as if you had stretched it yourself. Your canvas will always be tight, straight and square. Every canvas is individually assessed to ensure it meets our quality standards before it leaves our factory.
Large and custom sizes Signature Canvas specializes in large sizes –up to 72 x 144. That’s big! We can also make any size you desire. If your client commissions an unusual size of 38 x 56, no problem, we can make it for you right away. Every canvas is custom-made according to your specifications, which means you get exactly what you want every time. Your Signature Canvas will always be fresh and bright!

Manufactured in America Each order is custom made in our Shawnee, Kansas factory, which puts you in control of your canvas purchase. Most artist canvas on the market today is mass-manufactured and imported from overseas and quite likely produced with cheap materials and inconsistent workmanship. At Signature Canvas we do not carry any stock of pre-stretched canvas. Each canvas is made when we receive an order which allows you to select the exact specifications you want. Our canvases have never spent time collecting dust and dings in an overseas import container, a warehouse, or in a retail store.
